The regulations for the upcoming fall Chinook season have been posted. Just a few days left to fish for cutthroat and other trout in coastal rivers and streams, which will close Oct. Announcements Streams and rivers close to trout on Oct. Trout stocking mapsĬheck out the ODFW fishing and trout stocking maps to find nearby fishing locations, driving directions and descriptions of amenities. Stocking will resume next spring.Ĭheck out the complete 2022 trout stocking schedule. No more stockings for the north-coast lakes in 2022. No more stockings for the mid-coast lakes in 2022. These fisheries typically peak in November and December. Coho fishing in Siltcoos and Tahkenitch Lakes will kick off once we get significant rain to move fish out of the ocean and into the lakes.Warmwater fishing for bass and panfish in the Florence area is slowing down for the season as cooler weather and water temperatures slow fish activity. The rain and cooler weather should stir things up and improve the conditions.

Summer steelhead fishing continues to be slow on the Siletz. The larger lakes in the Florence area are your best bet at finding good numbers of trout leftover from the spring stockings. Mid-Coast lakes still have opportunity to catch some trout even though the stockings are done for the season. There are still nice fish being caught every day and these rivers will continue to produce fish through October until significant rain moves them upstream. Fall Chinook fishing continues to be slow on the mid-coast estuaries including in the Yaquina, Alsea and Siletz.Cooler temperatures will help make the fish more active, as will some rain. While most anglers target summer steelhead as they first begin their migration in May and June the early fall can be a great time of year to go after these fish. We are still receiving reports of fish being caught on upper portions of both rivers. Summer steelhead fishing is still fair on the North Coast with summers available throughout the fisheries on the Nestucca and Wilson. The Trask should also have some hatchery Chinook returning (Trask River is closed to the retention of wild Chinook as are the other Tillamook Bay rivers).

The Klaskanine R, Big Creek, North Fork Nehalem, and Trask R should all get a push of hatchery coho. The Nestucca and Nehalem Rivers will off the best opportunity for retention of fall Chinook.

15 was the last open day for wild coho in the Nehalem, Tillamook and Nestucca basins, and there is no retention of wild coho in North Coast basins for the remainder of 2022. Please note that Tillamook Bay is closed to the retention of wild Chinook this year. Check the regs for available fisheries on Nestucca, Nehalem and Tillamook Bays. Fall Chinook and coho salmon fishing has been fair in the North Coast bays.Submit your fishing photo to ODFW and we might use it here or elsewhere on.
